School Counseling Philosophy
The School Counseling Program of Fullerton Public Schools is an integral part of the education of all students. This program is based on the assumption that all students have the ability to learn when provided the proper experiences. They will develop the attitudes and master the skills needed to reach their maximum potential.
Fullerton’s School Counseling Program focuses on academic achievement; career and educational decision making; and the personal/social development of the students. To assist in achieving these competencies, the school counselor may meet with students in a class, small group, or individual setting.
Four strands have been identified in Fullerton’s School Counseling Program as per the American School Counselors Association. Through the strands of Core Curriculum, Direct School Services, Responsive Services and System Support all the students have access to the services of the counselor of the school.
